Programs for Beginners
Getting Started at Sunshine Volleyball Club
Want to learn how to play volleyball? Not ready to commit to a full club team? Sunshine offers developmental volleyball classes at our Westside (Santa Monica) and North (Chatsworth) locations, and we have a developmental team in the South Bay (Manhattan Beach).
Our developmental volleyball classes are designed to introduce young players to the sport in a low-stress, fun environment. Our experienced coaches focus on developing basic skills -- setting, passing, hitting and team play -- and ensure athletes learn to play using the correct form and techniques. No tryouts are necessary to join these programs.

Westside Pee-Wee's and Juniors
- Pee-Wee's and Juniors season begins mid-October and ends mid-June
- Pee-Wee's: 1st to 4th grade girls, meet from 4 - 5:30 on Sundays
- Juniors: 5th to 8th grade girls, meet from 5:30 - 7 pm.
- Class location: Lincoln Middle School in Santa Monica.
- Pee-Wee's and Juniors get uniforms and compete in one SCVA tournament (springtime) and a club-wide end-of-season tournament (June).
- Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year. The first class will be held Sunday, October 14, 2018.
- We also have beginning classes during July, August and September on the Westside. See the SUMMER CLASSES/Westside tab on website.
- No tryouts are necessary to join Pee-Wee's or Juniors.
North Pee-Wee's and Juniors
- Pee-Wee's are for 1st to 4th grade girls, Juniors are 5th to 8th grade girls.
- Meets Sundays from November to June at Sierra Canyon School (time to be announced).
- North Pee-Wee's compete in a club-wide end of season tournament in June.
- Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year. Registration for the Fall 2018 session begins October 8.
South Bay
- Beginner's team for 5th grade and under players, with practices once a week and limited tournament play.
- Clinics for beginners will be held occasionally during the season.
- Beginner's classes are held weekly during the summer at American Martyrs. See SUMMER CLASSES tab for information and registration.
